Charlene’s Already Fighting For Texans in Austin
Charlene Ward Johnson is ready to bring her years of leadership experience to the Texas House of Representatives District 139. Charlene is a proud mother of two, lifelong Democrat and community advocate who will fight for your democracy in Austin. Charlene believes that government and community leaders should work together to improve the lives of its people with safer neighborhoods, quality education and accessible healthcare. Charlene has diligently worked with organizations throughout Houston and District 139 to help provide much needed resources for the community. Charlene will FIGHT against every attack on Democratic values in Austin and looks forward to representing District 139.
In 2022, Charlene was elected to the Houston Community College Board of Trustees, where she serves as chair of the Academic and Student Affairs Committee. This committee focuses on college students' success rates by delivering relevant, high-quality, educational resources. Charlene has served on the Association of Community College of Trustees, Public Policy & Advocacy Committee. This committee works to create legislative priorities and review current public policy issues.
Charlene's 25 year career has spanned across the energy sector and various customer service industries, this has allowed for increasing collaborations with corporations in the private and public sector. Charlene believes that public and private partnerships with government entities, business corporations, and community leaders is crucial to providing tangible services to the community.
In 1991, Charlene graduated from the University of Houston with a Bachelor's degree in Technology. In 2021, Charlene graduated from the University of Arizona with a Masters degree in Organizational Management with a Specialization in Public Administration.
